About Me
Fall in love with your body once again and see what it’s truly capable of.
A little bit about my story…
I’m originally from Italy and qualified as a physiotherapist in 2002. After eleven years of working with orthopaedic patients, athletes and rugby players, I came to South Africa on holiday, was blown away by the beauty of this country and immediately knew this was where my heart belonged.
I am now a fully qualified Pilates and physiopilates instructor and I’m grateful to teach this amazing discipline and share my love for it with my clients.
Combining my anatomy and physio background, I would love to help you with any injuries by using the best exercises to recover faster.
My Mission & Vision
My goal is to make sure that each client gets the attention that they deserve, and that they reach their personal goals, whether that is improving strength, flexibility, recover from an injury, or overall well being.
My mission is to help you fall in love with your body and all what is capable of, pain free and stress free.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Pilates good for back pain?
Pilates helps to prevent and decrease back pain, especially lower back pain. It strengthens the core, that is a support for the back, improves a good alignment, and makes your tight back muscles more flexible.
Abdominals, gluteus and back muscles are mutually supportive for the back.
When suffering from chronic lower back pain, staying in bed is not the solution. A physio or a Pilates instructor can help by teaching you a few gentle and tailored movements.
What's the difference between Yoga and Pilates?
While they are both low-impact workouts that focus on a mind-body connection, Pilates and Yoga have very different origins and goals.
Yoga is more meditative and focuses more on your mind, while Pilates is more focused on physicality, muscle flexibility and strength, requiring that each pose and movement is done as precisely as possible.
In yoga, you will often hold a position, while in Pilates you will do sets of repetitions for most of the exercises.
There are not different types of Pilates, as is the case with yoga, and precision is crucial.
Pilates also requires a mind-body connection, but there is no meditation involved.
Can Pilates change your body shape?
If you practice Pilates regularly, it will visibily change your body.
It improves muscle tone, balances muscles, improve the posture and teaches you to move better and with grace. This, together with your new long and lean muscles, will make you look and feel taller, fit and beautiful.
How often should I do Pilates?
If you can, the ideal would be two or three times a week. As any other form of exercise, consistency is key, and it’s better to limit the time between the sessions to remember what you learnt and get the body familiar with the new way of moving.
If you are already advanced, you might want to add a class a week to keep on challenging your body.
How long do I need to do Pilates to start seeing results?
To quote Joseph Pilates, “In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you’ll see the difference, and in 30 sessions you’ll have a whole new body”.
This shouldn’t obviously create unrealistic expectations, and it also depends on your level of commitment and other daily habits.
But the beautiful thing is that no matter how you use Pilates – whether as your only exercise practice, or in addition to other activities – you will see, feel and experience the difference, because Pilates doesn’t stay in the class, but you take it with you when you leave, in your posture, in your breathing, in the awareness of your body.
Why private classes?
The greatest thing about private classes is that they are designed for You, for Your body and for Your needs.
You will achieve a better technique in the Pilates method, with better execution of the exercises.
You will progress faster, and see the results sooner.
With group Pilates classes, exercises are modified to fit all different bodies, ages and levels of experience.
